Apartrooms has proved a hit with tourists. Our sustainable building was designed with business travellers in mind but of course, tourists and other visitors to Aberdeen are very welcome. While business travellers thank us with their repeat business, our leisure guests have been especially generous with their reviews on TripAdvisor and Google. Things that stand out again and again are comfort, sleep quality, cleanliness, design, parking and location. This post shares common themes from the reviews which added up to what guests have described as “amazing value.”
Covid-Secure
Across hospitality, cleanliness is a requirement rather than a differentiator. However, in 2020 “spotless” may have been the most used word in our reviews. In light of the pandemic, we have upped the intensity of our already thorough cleaning regime. We think it’s the underlying anxiety that has seen cleanliness come out as the number one feature of our reviews. Or maybe it’s because most people don’t have a zingy new kitchen at home. Either way, with direct room access and no reception to navigate, Apartrooms certainly is a great option for safety conscious guests and you can rely on the cleanliness.
Well Thought-Out
This phrase means a lot to us because we put so much effort into thinking out Apartrooms. Much of the work went into achieving the demanding sustainability standards that we set for ourselves. Our eco credentials are important to some guests but sustainability doesn’t make a stay on its own. The apartment layouts, our processes and support services were all designed to make each guest’s experience as easy and comfortable as possible. A lot of good design passes you by because “things just work.” More obvious touches like the contactless, Alexa-controlled lights, kettle and TV were features that made people register the concept.
Our leisure guests include golfers, cyclists, hikers and people exploring the city or visiting the university. The family groups and those following more energetic pursuits have made good use of the kitchen and laundry facilities. More than one said that you have “everything you need.”
Convenient Location
Location is top of the list for most people when starting an accommodation search so it makes sense that this was reflected in the reviews. While commercial travellers have direct access to the business parks to the south of Aberdeen, tourists have easy access to the coastal area between Cove Bay and Stonehaven, the home of Dunnottar Castle. The drive into Aberdeen is very easy and there are regular buses into the city meaning you don’t have to worry about parking and can sample a dram or two while you’re out. Access to the north of town is simple via the A90. Another advantage of our location is the quietness, a vital ingredient for a good night’s sleep.
Facilities
When a family of four stays for two weeks, facilities are required. That includes the “amazingly fast” Wi-Fi and the “first class” free on-site parking. Each integrated kitchen has an oven, induction hob, microwave and dishwasher. There are laundry facilities on site that our longer stay guests have really valued. We have the voice-controlled lights, TV, thermostat and kettle which seem like a particularly good idea in 2020. The apartments are warm and the bedrooms are cosy and quiet with comfy Hypnos beds. There is space to work or relax and cyclists, hikers and golfers have had no problem storing their equipment and getting things dry.

We think our style of accommodation will increase in popularity. It has proved a relatively secure model both for our guests and our business. More properties will be built to exacting green standards as eco-travel becomes more fashionable and more cities become sustainability hubs like Aberdeen.
